For the sake of the presenting entrepreneurs, we like to keep the SpeedPitching events very intimate. We don’t allow any spectators attend the event so that the pitching entrepreneurs can have their “time in the sun” with a room full of active investors. Because of the overwhelming requests to attend the events and see what they are like, we decided to create a video for everyone to see!

Yesterday, Brock Blake, CEO of FundingUniverse, the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Grow Utah Ventures announced an exciting opportunity that will provide particular benefit to one Utah-based business. At the Governor’s Utah Economic Summit on March 22, 2007, entrepreneurs around the state will have the chance to compete for up to $100,000 in seed capital. Submissions will be accepted until March 6th. It is FREE to apply to participate in the competition. To submit, click here. After the submission deadline, the FundingUniverse team and a selected group of investors will choose the top five submissions. These five companies will be coached and assisted by the FundingUniverse team to prepare the best possible pitch.
On March 22nd, the top five businesses will present LIVE at the summit. A pre-selected group of investors will vote on which entrepreneur will be awarded with up to $100,000. All of those in attendance will benefit from an insiders look into the investment process. What usually goes on behind closed doors will be in the open for the education of all entrepreneurs and businesses in the state.
For those entrepreneurs who do not have a Utah-based business, do not worry. At FundingUniverse, we are looking into having similar events in other states.
